Pluteus flavofuligineus Atkinson Cap 2-8cm across, bell-shaped then flattened; deep blackish yellow to yellow-green, then paler, more yellow-ochre as it expands; with granular or velvety surface. Gills broad, crowded; pallid then pink. Stem 40-100 x 4-8mm, equal; pinkish, then yellow with age. Flesh yellowish. Odor not distinctive. Taste not distinctive. Spores ovoid, smooth, 6-7 x 4.5-5.5µ. Deposit pink. Pleurocystidia abundant, with acute point. Habitat on fallen hardwoods. Found mostly in northeastern North America. Season July-October. Edible.
